What do you do to nurture your creative side?

Connecting with our creative self leads to a more fulfilling, authentic life. When I started on my wellness journey, I didn't value creativity in and of itself. Arts and crafts were never my strong suit so I eliminated the idea of me as creative. What a miss!
Relearning the joy of working on something just for the process of it has brought much wonder and contentment. Through nuturing my creative side, I have reignited my love for cooking. With cooking, sometimes it's a win and sometimes it's a bust. Oh well! I have also begun journaling and writing creatively.
I'll share a few poems I wrote this past summer when I was learning to feel my feelings along with gaining clarity around my values.
Waking up
Nature's moring dew
Bathed in soft sunlight
delights my toes
Grounds my feet
from my soles
I feel the pull of the earh
Tiny tendrils bud
I am home
Family
Nothing lasts but love endures
We choose to reach toward each other
over and over
Bound by the life we've created
Committed to supporting one another
Growing
Transforming
Remaining side by side
Backpacking
a chance to pack it all up
Roll & stuff
Heave the load on my back
use my strong legs
to go somewhere new
Somewhere yet to be explored by me
immerse myself in nature
sleep under the stars
returning home recharged
from communing with my mother
Being creative is a way we can care for our selves. We can take time to nurture ourselves and break the cycle of perfectionism and productivity.
